This is the Taiyo cutter — the convex-edge partner to the Taiyo texturiser rather than a toothed tool itself. The difference that justifies the premium is the steel: VG-10 Japanese stainless run to 60-62HRC, harder than the brand’s 440C lines, which lets the blade take a finer convex edge and hold it through far more cutting before any drag shows. It comes in lengths from 5.5” to 7.0”, in a silver polished finish, with a Tejina-style tension screw that holds its setting.

In a texturising workflow this blade sets the line and the layers; the matching toothed scissor then softens and blends into that shape. Length is the choice to make: 5.5”-6.0” for detail and over-comb work, 6.5”-7.0” for long layers and bigger sections.

At 60-62HRC it takes a finer convex edge than the 440C lines and holds it through far more cutting before you feel any drag, which is exactly what a daily-driver cutter should do. It glides on slide work, gives a clean blunt line, and the Tejina screw stays where you set it.

The honest notes: this is a cutter, so the texture and weight removal come from the matching toothed scissor, not this blade. VG-10 is harder and a little less forgiving if you chip or drop it, it wants proper drying and oiling, and it’s right-hand only.
