This is the cutter in the Rainbow line — a convex slice-edge blade, the partner to the matching toothed thinner rather than a toothed tool itself. The rainbow colour comes from a titanium-style coating over the blade, chosen for the look and for being allergy-neutral on nickel-sensitive skin; the metal beneath is 440C stainless at 58-60HRC. It comes in lengths from 5.0” up to 7.0”.

In a texturising setup the cutter shapes the line and the layers, and the thinner softens and blends into that shape. Picking length matters: a 5.0”-5.5” suits detail and scissor-over-comb work, while a 6.5”-7.0” covers long layers and larger sections in fewer strokes.

“The rainbow coating is what gets noticed, and it’s genuinely useful for nickel-sensitive hands, but the blade behind it is a straightforward convex cutter. It does the cutting jobs cleanly — blunt lines, slide cutting, point work — and the spread of lengths lets you size it to detail or long-layer work rather than forcing one blade to do both. As the cutting half of the Rainbow kit, it sets the shape the matching thinner then blends into.

Two honest points. There are no teeth here — this is a cutter, so weight removal and texture come from the toothed blade in the set, not this one. And the 440C is dependable but not a hard cobalt steel, so on coarse hair you’ll hone it sooner, and the coloured finish wants care at the pivot to keep its look. Right-hand only. Choose the length to suit your work and it’s a tidy, eye-catching cutter.”
