The Juntetsu VG10 Azure is a convex-edge cutting scissor in VG-10 steel, finished in azure blue and offered from 5.5” to 7.0”. “On a thinning-focused bench this is the cutter I would use for texture you create with the edge rather than with teeth — point cutting into a perimeter and slide cutting down a section to remove weight and add separation. The VG-10 is the reason it works: a genuinely fine convex edge that glides instead of pushing, so the strands fall away cleanly rather than bending under the blade, and it holds that edge on coarse Australian hair better than a 440C blade. Pick the length to the job — a 5.5” for controlled point work, a 7.0” for long slide strokes and over-comb. Two honest limits: it is a solid cutter for edge-based texturising, not a substitute for a toothed thinner when you need even, repeatable weight removal across a whole section; and it comes right-handed only. For a stylist who already runs a dedicated thinner and wants a sharp VG-10 blade to texturise by hand, it is strong value.”
