Description
The Mina Rainbow II is a convex slice cutting scissor with an unusually wide size and hand range. It comes in 4.5”, 5.0”, 5.5”, 6.0”, 6.5” and 7.0”, in both left and right hand, cut in stainless alloy (7CR) steel at 55-57 HRC under a rainbow polished coating. This is a cutting blade, not a thinner — it sets shape and lines rather than removing weight — so pair it with a thinner when you need to texturise.
- 7CR steel at 55-57 HRC: cutting-grade steel for everyday styling and learning
- Convex slice edge: clean lines and slide cutting for general styling work
- Offset handle, left or right: neutral hand position, with a genuine option for lefties
- Six sizes (4.5”–7.0”): an accessible range, including lengths usually hard to source
- Rainbow coating: allergy-neutral and skin-safe, resistant to water and liquids
- Maintenance cloth and tension key included: the basics to set and care for it
Professional Opinion
“Yes, the rainbow finish is the headline, and there’s no shame in wanting a blade with personality on your station — but the genuinely useful thing here is the range. Mina offer the Rainbow II from 4.5” all the way to 7.0”, in both right and left hand, so a leftie or someone after an unusual length who’s usually stuck paying a premium can actually get sorted at a fair price. The convex edge gives a clean enough slice and layer for daily styling, it’s light in the hand, and I’m glad they include a tension key and cloth in the box rather than assuming you’ve got them.
The steel keeps it grounded: 7CR at 55-57 HRC is cutting-grade, so this is a styling and learning blade, not a precision-detail instrument, and the colour coating will mark over years of hard use. Treat it as what it is — an affordable, characterful, accessibly-sized cutter for students, mobile stylists and anyone who wants a bit of colour in their kit — and it delivers.”
