Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Nippon Shears Pty Ltd ACN 641 863 578 acting as trustee for The Adams Scissor Trust ABN 68 501 252 754, trading as ThinningScissors (we, us), handles personal information collected through www.thinningscissors.com.au. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Our Terms of Sale cover privacy in section 20.

What we collect

When you order:

• your name and email address;
• the recipient’s name and phone number;
• the delivery address;
• the products and delivery option you choose;
• your order history with us.

We do not ask for a billing address.

When you pay: payment happens in PayPal’s window. PayPal tells us whether the payment succeeded and gives us a payment reference, which we use to match and refund payments. We do not receive or store your card details.

When you contact us: the site has no forms. We receive only the emails you send us.

When you save a shortlist: the exact options and quantities you save stay in your browser until you transfer them to the cart. The shortlist holds no name, email, address or payment details.

When you visit: the site’s pages use your device’s own fonts and load no fonts or scripts from other services. Our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details as part of normal web requests. At checkout, PayPal’s payment window and script load from PayPal. The site does not load analytics or advertising scripts.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• process, deliver and support your order;
• send your order confirmation and tax invoice, dispatch notices and refund notices;
• handle returns, faults and questions;
• prevent fraud;
• meet our tax and legal record-keeping obligations.

We send marketing email only if you have agreed to receive it, and every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Who we share it with

We share only what each service needs to do its part:

• Payment: PayPal.
• Hosting: our website hosting provider.
• Order records: our order database provider.
• Email: our email delivery provider, for order emails.
• Delivery: the carrier that delivers your parcel. It receives the recipient’s name, address and phone number.

We do not sell personal information.

Overseas providers

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. This includes PayPal and our hosting, database and email providers.

Security and retention

The site and checkout use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. We keep order records for as long as needed to support your order and meet tax and other legal obligations, then delete or de-identify them.

Your rights

You can:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• request access to it, or correction of it;
• ask how we use it;
• make a privacy complaint.

You can browse the site without telling us who you are. To place an order, we need the details above.
