Description
The Mina Black Diamond Hairdressing Scissor Kit pairs a flat-edge cutter with a matching 6.0” thinner, so you can set a blunt line and then blend the weight out of it with one coordinated kit. The thinner is where the texturising work happens, and it sits in blend-rather-than-bulk territory.
- Cutting-grade steel: Stainless alloy (7CR) at 55-57HRC across both pieces — honest hardness that takes a clean sharpening and resists corrosion.
- Offset handle: Cranks the thumb forward so the wrist stays neutral through a full styling session.
- Two tools, one kit: A flat-edge cutting blade for blunt lines plus a thinning/texturising blade for weight removal.
- 30-tooth thinner: A 20-30% cut rate puts it in blending territory — it softens and diffuses weight rather than carving dramatic chunks.
- Choose your cutting length: 5.5”, 6.0” or 7.0” cutting paired with the 6.0” thinner; the longer 7.0” suits scissor-over-comb.
- Tension adjuster: Dial the screw to keep the close quiet and even as the blades bed in.
- Light at 42g per piece: Less mass to fight through back-to-back appointments.
Professional Opinion
“This kit earns its place on the thinner. Thirty teeth at a 20-30% cut rate is a true blend-and-soften ratio, not a debulker — it feathers a fringe, takes the heaviness out of a thick four-corners, and leaves a soft transition rather than a shelf, which is exactly what you want when you’re finishing a cut rather than reshaping it. The flat-edge cutter handles your blunt lines, and being able to pick the cutting length (I’d take the 5.5” for detail, the 7.0” for over-comb) means the kit flexes to how you work. Set expectations on the steel, though: 7CR at 55-57HRC is dependable cutting-grade, not cobalt, so the teeth dull sooner than a Yasaka or Kasho and I’d replace rather than pay to resharpen serrations. As a first complete kit for an apprentice or a tidy low-cost second set, it does the job honestly. It’s right-handed only.”
