Description

Ichiro Ash Gold Hair Thinning Scissors are a 6” thinner built around 30 V-form teeth in 440C steel. The V-form means each tooth comes to a point that meets the blade like a tiny pair of scissors, so it severs the strand cleanly — quick and decisive, and a touch more aggressive feeling than a U-groove tooth of the same count. At 30 teeth the cut rate lands in blending territory: roughly 20-25% removed on dry hair, 25-30% on wet.

• 440C steel at 58-60HRC: A properly hardened stainless that takes a clean sharpening on the teeth and holds it.
• 30 V-form teeth: Blends and softens weight rather than carving chunks — a finishing-and-detailing tooth count.

“For the money, this is a sensible blending thinner. Thirty V-form teeth removing a fifth to a quarter of the weight is a soft, controlled ratio — it is the tool for breaking up a blunt perimeter, taking the heaviness out of a fringe, and diffusing weight without a visible line, which is most of what a thinner gets asked to do on a salon floor. The 440C at 58-60HRC is honest, well-hardened stainless and the offset keeps the wrist comfortable across a detailing session. Set expectations on two fronts. The V-form teeth sever decisively, so on fine hair work in shallow passes or you can take out more than you meant; and 440C is a workhorse, not cobalt, so on coarse resistant hair the teeth dull sooner than a VG-10 or ATS-314 blade would. It is right-handed only. As an apprentice’s first thinner or a colourist’s everyday blender, it does the job without overreaching.”
