The Ichiro Matte Black thinner runs fine V-form teeth on a 6” blade, which keeps it in blending territory: a stated 20-25% rate on dry hair, 25-30% wet, so it lifts weight out gradually and softens lines rather than carving visible chunks. The offset handle drops the thumb to keep the wrist neutral on detail work, and Ichiro cut a true left-handed version as well as the right, so a lefty gets a properly reversed blade rather than a flipped grip.

“This is the blender of Ichiro’s matte-black pair, and the fine V-form teeth tell you how it behaves: gradual, controlled weight removal at 20-25% dry, which is the right tool for softening layer lines, point-thinning ends and adding movement without over-thinning a section. The slightly higher wet rate is worth knowing so you do not take too much on damp hair. I rate that Ichiro cut a genuine left-handed version rather than flipping a right-hander, which for a lefty matters more than any finish. The 440C at 58-60 HRC holds its tooth edge well for the money. The honest limitation is the same as any fine blender: it is slow if you are trying to strip serious bulk out of very thick hair, where a coarser blade would be quicker, and the black coating is cosmetic, not a performance upgrade. For comfortable, low-risk blending in either hand, it is a sensible buy.”
