Description

The Ichiro Hana is a V-form thinner that sits a step up from entry-level on steel. It’s a 6” offset blade in 440C steel at 58-60 HRC, cut with V-shaped teeth that meet the opposite blade at a point so each strand is sheared cleanly rather than folded — the difference between a smooth blend and a snagged one. Its cut rate (the share of hair removed per closed pass) runs around 20–25% on dry hair and 25–30% on wet, putting it in the moderate band: enough to soften, de-weight and add movement, controlled enough to avoid an obvious step.

“The Hana is the thinner I’d hand a stylist who wants one versatile blade for blending and light texturising rather than a specialist at either end. The V-form teeth are the reason it works: they shear each strand at a point, so you get clean blends and soft edges instead of the creasing a blunt thinner leaves. At a 20–25% dry rate it’s squarely a blend-and-movement tool — lovely for softening lines, feathering ends and adding flow without carving an obvious step. The offset keeps your hand relaxed through detail work, and the 440C at 58-60 HRC holds its edge well above budget alloys. Where I’d set the limit is bulk: this is not a wide-tooth de-bulker, so clearing heavy weight from very dense hair is slow going and a coarser blade is the right call. And it’s a thinner only, so it partners your shears. For everyday texturising and seamless blending at a fair price, it’s a well-judged buy.”
