The Joewell E series gives you a choice between two genuinely different thinners on the same 5.6” classic-handle frame, and the model number tells you the behaviour. The E-30 (30 teeth, around 15% cut away) is the gentle finisher for softening lines and blending fine to medium hair. The E-40 (40 teeth, 35%) removes more than twice as much for carving weight out of thick hair. Both are built in Japan from Joewell’s Supreme Stainless Alloy.

The honest guidance is to buy to your clientele: the E-40 is a workhorse but at 35% it’s easy to overdo on fine hair, while the E-30 will feel slow if you’re constantly debulking coarse heads. Both ride on a traditional, non-offset handle, so factor that in if you favour a cranked grip. Pick the ratio deliberately and either one is a thinner you’ll keep for years.”
