Description
The Juntetsu Aero-Pro is a dedicated thinning and texturising shear built around two things: a very light aluminium-cobalt body and precision-milled teeth with a Dan-Ha (stepped convex) edge. The Dan-Ha geometry means each tooth meets the opposing blade on a curved bevel, so hair detaches cleanly instead of folding or snagging — the difference you feel between a thinner that releases the strand and one that drags it.
It comes in two tooth counts, and the choice changes the job more than anything else does:
-
Ultra-light body: 50g (30T) or 52g (40T) — noticeably lighter than most texturisers, which matters across a session of detailed thinning.
-
Precision-milled teeth: Hand-finished so the bite stays clean and snag-free pass after pass.
-
Aluminium-cobalt alloy: A hard, durable composition that takes a fine point on each tooth and holds it.
-
Two cut rates: 30T removes about 30% per pass for everyday blending and movement; 40T removes about 40% for heavier weight reduction.
-
Dan-Ha convex edge: Curved tooth bevels that release hair rather than pushing or catching it.
-
Offset handle with removable finger rest: Keeps the wrist relaxed and lets you set your own finger position.
-
Precision tension screw: Holds the resistance where you set it through extended work.

Model Guide
APT-30 (30 Teeth): A 30% cut rate puts this in versatile blend-and-texture territory. It is the everyday choice for softening layers, adding movement, and general thinning across most hair types — enough teeth to blend cleanly, few enough that you still feel where weight is coming out.
APT-40 (40 Teeth): A 40% cut rate removes substantially more per pass. This is the one for dense, heavy hair and pronounced texture, where you want real bulk reduction rather than a light finish. On fine hair it can take out more than you intend, so reach for it when the head genuinely needs debulking.
Professional Opinion
“What sets the Aero-Pro apart in the hand is how little it weighs — at 50 to 52g it is well under most texturisers, and on a long thinning session that lighter body is the difference between a relaxed wrist and a tired one. The Dan-Ha stepped-convex teeth release hair cleanly with no fold-and-tug at the tips, which is what you are paying the cobalt premium for. The real decision is tooth count, not anything else: the 30-tooth at a 30% cut rate is the versatile blender I would put on most clients for movement and softening, while the 40-tooth at 40% is for genuinely dense, heavy hair that needs bulk taken down. Two honest caveats. The 30T is a blender, not a heavy debulker — if you mostly strip thick heads, order the 40T or you will be making too many passes. And it is offered right-handed only, so left-handers are out, and at this price it is a tool for someone who thins daily rather than now and then. Paired with the matching Aero-Pro cutter it gives a consistent feather-light feel switching between cutting and texturising.”
