Description
A 30-tooth blending thinner with a slightly broader range than most: the 6.0” blade in SUS440C carries 30 V-form teeth at a 20-30% removal rate. The lower end of that range is for seamless blending; the upper end gives a bit more bite for movement in denser hair, so it covers more than a fixed light-take thinner. The V-form teeth grip and release each strand cleanly, and the deeper Sakura engraving is a finishing detail rather than a performance feature.
-
30 V-form teeth: A closely-spaced pattern that grips and releases cleanly for even blending.
-
20-30% removal: A useful spread — light for invisible blends, a touch heavier for movement in denser hair.
-
SUS440C steel at 58-60 HRC: A dependable stainless that holds the tooth edge through regular work.
-
Offset handle: Keeps the wrist neutral during detailed thinning.
-
Sakura engraving: A deeper decorative finish; cosmetic, not functional.
-
Where it works
Weight removal: Takes out bulk toward the upper end of its range without leaving a visible step.
Movement: Adds flow to heavy, dense hair.
Blend work: Softens transitions between lengths at the lighter end of the range.
Finishing: Softens hard lines and refines the overall shape.
Professional Opinion
“What I like about the Sakura II is its range: 30 V-form teeth at a 20-30% take means you can keep it light for invisible blending or lean on it a little for movement in denser hair, so it’s more adaptable than a single-ratio thinner. The teeth grip then release cleanly, which keeps it from snagging on wet hair, and the SUS440C holds its edge reasonably for the price. The honest framing is the one any 30-tooth thinner gets: even at the top of its range it’s a blender, not a coarse chunker, so a very thick, heavy head will want a wider-tooth texturiser for fast bulk removal. The steel is mid-tier, so it’ll ask for sharpening sooner than a cobalt blade and the tips want protecting. It’s right-handed only. As an adaptable, fairly-priced blender for everyday texture work, it’s a sound pick — and the engraving is a nice touch on top.”
