Clear hair and keep the tool dry
After use, remove trapped hair gently and inspect the space between the teeth. Keep your fingers clear of the cutting edge. Wipe and dry the tool with a suitable soft cloth. Follow the maker’s instructions for lubricant and pivot care rather than applying an unverified chemical to a coated blade.
Protect the tooth tips during storage and transport. Do not leave the tool loose where the teeth can strike other equipment. Inspect a dropped tool before using it again.
Stop when it catches or pulls
A catching blade, bent tooth or uneven closure needs assessment. Do not grind, bend or force a damaged tooth blade yourself. Ask a technician experienced with thinning and texturising scissors whether the exact model can be serviced and what work is proposed.

Before returning the tool to work, inspect it safely and assess the result on a controlled section using an appropriate technique. Stop if the same catching or pulling continues.
