About Thinning Scissors Australia

Our mission is to help every Australian stylist cut with confidence.

Our story

Thinning Scissors Australia began in 2016 when a group of salon educators, sharpening technicians, and barbers noticed a repeated problem across every city: stylists were investing in thinning shears without the right guidance for Australian conditions. Tools dulled too quickly, warranties were unclear, and apprentices struggled to understand tooth geometry.

We assembled an independent advisory team—educators across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide—to test shears, document cut rates, and build a library of actionable resources. Today we work with salons, barbershops, and training organisations nationwide to keep toolkits sharp and confident.
